The Department of Clinical Studies - Philadelphia (Small Animal Dept.) at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine is now searching for a Chair to lead the academic missions of the Department. The Chair works in close collaboration with the Hospital's Executive Director to manage/integrate the clinical mission of the faculty and ensure that the hospital is serving as the "laboratory" for the faculty's clinical/translational research and teaching efforts.

The School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Clinical Studies-Philadelphia. The appointment will be at the rank of FULL PROFESSOR in the CLINICIAN EDUCATOR or TENURE TRACK. Most of the departmental research, teaching and clinical activities are centered within the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital, which provides 24-hour emergency companion animal medical care and specialty services to a large metropolitan area. We seek a leader with vision to guide the Department toward innovative and impactful scientific and clinical advances in veterinary and comparative/translational medicine. The school is located at the heart of the University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia campus in a highly interactive biomedical environment. Applicants must have a medical doctorate degree (VMD, DVM, or equivalent, MD, DO) with evidence of postgraduate fellowship, specialty board certification and/or PhD training. We envision that the successful candidate will be an individual with an outstanding academic background including internationally recognized research credentials and publication record, a track record of extramurally funded research programs, record of clinical activities, and proven leadership and administrative skills.
