Matilda Wilson Chair in Large Animal Clinical Sciences

 

The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences within the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University seeks candidates for the prestigious position as the Matilda Wilson Endowed Chair in Large Animal Clinical Sciences.  The successful candidate will lead and enhance animal health research programs that complement college and campus-wide interdisciplinary initiatives at the interface of animal and human health.  Applicants are sought with demonstrated expertise in metabolic and inflammatory disease processes, preharvest food safety (animal origin), and/or infectious diseases; however, outstanding candidates in related areas are encouraged to apply.  Participation and leadership in promoting graduate student education and post-doctoral training programs is also expected.  The Matilda Wilson Chair is a prominent position within the College of Veterinary Medicine that will serve as a catalyst for enhancing collaborative research and graduate training with other departments on campus.  The appointment will be in the tenure system and the incumbent will be awarded the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The offer will include a competitive startup package, laboratory facilities, and annual discretionary funding from the Matilda Wilson Endowment. 

 

The required qualifications include a DVM (or equivalent) and/or a PhD with a distinguished research program of national and international stature along with a desire for continued scholarly and creative growth. Outstanding individuals applying for this unique opportunity must have an established and current record of obtaining extramural funding at the federal level and demonstrated commitment to graduate student education. A capacity to promote collegiality by collaborating with individuals from clinical and basic science disciplines, mentoring junior faculty, and supporting a diverse and dynamic intellectual community are requisites of the appointee.
