Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Small Animal Dermatology with the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences.  The successful candidate will form a dynamic dermatology service and teach in the Veterinary Medical Centre.  Quality instruction of undergraduate and graduate veterinary students is required.  Scholarly activity and development of a clinical research program will be encouraged and expected.  Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist within the College and the University (Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Dentistry, Engineering, Kinesiology, Saskatoon Cancer Centre, School of Physiotherapy and the Canadian Light Source and Fedoruk Centre of Nuclear Innovation).

 

The Western College of Veterinary Medicine is western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine.  Annually 80 students from the four western provinces and the northern jurisdictions are admitted to the DVM program.  The College also has approximately 140 graduate students, interns and residents.  It is part of a comprehensive academic health sciences group at the University of Saskatchewan (www.usask.ca) with access to facilities including Canada’s national synchrotron light facility (www.lightsource.ca) and Cyclotron-PET/CT Research Centre.  For further information, please visit www.usask.ca/wcvm

 

The Veterinary Medical Centre has undergone substantial expansion and renovation, and it is currently an outstanding state-of-the-art facility servicing western Canada as an AVMA and AAHA accredited hospital and referral centre.  Equipment and diagnostic enhancements include a 320 slice CT scanner, 1.5 T MRI, nuclear scintigraphy, a linear accelerator with SRT and IMRT capabilities and soon to be installed PET-CT.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent. . Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association.   American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) board certification or completion of an ACVD approved residency is required.  Preference will be given to candidates who also have a post-graduate degree and have experience with the teaching of veterinary education.  Applicants with a demonstrated interest in Dermatology and academic practice who are willing to complete a residency will be considered. 

 

Salary bands for this position are as follows: 

Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109; Associate Professor: $112,109 to $130,925; and Professor $130,925 to $152,877.
