The Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor of Equine Internal Medicine.

Qualifications:  Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree and be ACVIM-LAIM board certified. Additionally, candidates must meet requirements for veterinary licensure (or faculty certificate) in North Carolina.

Responsibilities:  The right candidate will offer high end specialized internal medicine and critical care, providing consistent care and service as well as excellent referring vet and client communication and house officer support. The person hired must be a good communicator and teacher, provide excellent internal medicine service, build positive and collaborative relationships with referring veterinarians, and develop the equine medicine caseload. The position will also help with primary care educational efforts, particularly the engagement of practitioners. The incumbent is expected to enjoy and excel at teaching at all levels, will be strongly engaged in effective equine internal medicine resident training. This position will support clinical research in key areas of strength in the equine group such as sports medicine (pulmonology, musculoskeletal/exercise physiology, and cardiac) infectious diseases, gastroenterology, and inflammation. Participation in collaborative research and contribution to regional and national continuing education programs are expected. The position offers the chance to develop regional clinical research opportunities and any number of collaborations with groups at NC State, The NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, and with institutions throughout the triangle. This person will also develop clinical research opportunities with regional and statewide equine veterinarians and groups of equine professionals. 

Additionally, the incumbent must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere as well as possess an aptitude for, or experience in teaching and mentoring veterinary students and residents.
