The Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University, is seeking applications from qualified applicants for a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor, Equine Emergency position.
Qualifications: DVM or equivalent degree required. ACVS board certification also required. Diplomate status with the ACVECC (Equine) preferred. Candidates must meet requirements for a North Carolina Faculty License, or regular North Carolina veterinary licensure.
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for scheduling and performing emergency duty on the equine emergency rotation (medicine and surgery accessions). Incumbent will admit and is responsible for all emergency cases while on duty. The individual will be on clinics approximately 34-39 weeks/52 weeks (65% – 75% depending on the staffing of the service). Responsible for teaching students and house officers emergency procedures while on the emergency service. Attends and contributes to daily student and house officer rounds and for teaching DVM students on the Equine Emergency clinical rotation. Will participate in clinical research, including retrospective or prospective studies and have the opportunity to collaborate with other equine researchers or small animal ACVECC boarded faculty members. Position requires assisting referring DVMs during stressful situations.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. Aptitude for and desire to teach and mentor veterinary students, house officers, and residents is required. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
