Tenure-Track or Clinical Track Associate/Full Professor of Equine Surgery.
The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences College of Veterinary Medicine University of Tennessee
is seeking applications for a tenure track or clinical track equine surgery position at the associate / full professor level. Applicants must have a DVM/VMD, or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited College of Veterinary Medicine and be ACVS/ECVS board
certified. Candidates having an advanced degree (PhD or MS) with a research interest are preferred. Responsibilities include promoting clinic service and building caseload, developing positive relationships with referring veterinarians and the horse owning
public, participating in emergency service rotation, didactic and clinical teaching of students and house officers, mentorship of graduate students, establishing a program of scholarship/research, committee and other service activities, outreach, and governance.
Tenure-track faculty are expected to establish a sustainable, funded research program. Clinical track faculty are expected to develop sustained scholarship leading to peer-reviewed publications. The successful applicant will join equine surgical faculty on
the equine surgery service. The full-service hospital for large animals provides primary, referral, and emergency care. Emergency duty is shared between an emergency clinician and the clinical faculty. Diagnostic capabilities include digital radiography, nuclear
imaging, CT, MRI, C-arm fluoroscopy, dynamic and stationary video endoscopy, thermography, ultrasonography, lameness diagnostic facilities including computer assisted lameness diagnostics, indoor arena, and Equine Performance and Rehabilitation Center. The
equine surgery service is a fully equipped hospital with 4 dedicated equine surgery rooms. The hospital is a new, state of the art and fully equipped surgical facility, including arthroscopic, laparoscopic, orthopedic, laser and other advanced capabilities.
