The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine,
University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, invites applications for a clinical-track, full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Large Animal Internal Medicine and Equine Extension. The position is a 12-month, non-tenure
track with 50% extension, 47% teaching and 3% service assignment. The appointee extension responsibilities include transferring knowledge and technology from the University of Florida to equine producers, other horse owners, the Institute of Food and Agricultural
Sciences (IFAS) extension faculty, veterinarians, and the agricultural community under the auspices of the Florida IFAS Cooperative Extension Service. This responsibility involves provision of presentations, publications, audio-visual materials, as well as
organization of conferences related to equine health. The individual will also be expected to serve as a major communication link among IFAS Cooperative Extension Service, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the horse industry, and equine veterinarians. The
appointee teaching responsibilities will include didactic, laboratory, and clinical teaching of professional students and residents in the area of large animal internal medicine. Committee service at the college and national professional level are expected.
DVM or Equivalent. Residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine. Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the practice of Equine extension and advanced large animal medicine is required. Candidates will also have demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships
and must be supportive of the University of Florida core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability. The appointee will join an experienced medicine section consisting of 4 ACVIM board-certified clinicians. The large animal medicine
service is located in a comprehensive teaching hospital and referral center with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. The caseload is predominantly referral and approximately 60 % equine with the balance small ruminants, New World camelids, and production
livestock.
