The Western College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track faculty position in Veterinary Anesthesiology at Assistant or Associate level in
the department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences. The successful candidate will be required to provide
high quality didactic instruction in anesthesiology to undergraduate and graduate veterinarians; organizational responsibility and participation in the clinical teaching and service programs of
the Small and Large Animal Clinics of the Veterinary Medical Centre including some out-of-hours work; and have exemplary scholarship and research ability in promoting the specialty of anesthesiology.
The WCVM is western Canada’s regional college of veterinary medicine. It is part of a comprehensive academic health sciences group on the university campus, with access to facilities
including the PET-CT, Canadian Light Source and the Biomedical Beamline and Saskatchewan Centre for Cyclotron Sciences. For further information, please visit

The Veterinary Medical Centre is currently a state-of-the-art facility serving western Canada as an AVMA and AAHA accredited hospital and referral centre for all species with a primary
care practice.
Available on site are well-appointed operating rooms, 320 slice CT, 1.5T MRI, ICU and linear accelerator (with SRT and IMRT). We currently provide sedation and anesthesia services for small and
large animal medicine and surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, neurology, oncology, medical imaging, elective surgery and for exotic/zoo animals. We also provide support to the ICU with a Datex-Ohmeda Centiva and a GE Healthcare R860 ICU ventilators. Research
equipment includes lithium dilution and thermodilution cardiac output monitors and nociceptive threshold devices. For more information, please visit

Qualifications
Candidates must possess
a DVM degree or its equivalent and be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan. Candidates must be a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesiology
and Analgesia (ACVAA) or the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) or have credentials acceptable to the ACVAA or ECVAA for Board examination at the time the appointment takes effect. Board certification is required for tenure.
An advanced research degree is desirable. Previous academic experience is desirable with
an interest and ability to engage in scholarly activities as evidenced by established or developing research initiatives; a strong or emerging research program; demonstrated effective classroom teaching skills
and mentorship; and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Salary bands for this position are as follows:
Assistant Professor: $93,293 to $112,109; Associate Professor: $112,109 to $130,925; and Professor $130,925 to $152,877.
