The Department of Clinical Sciences of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applications for a faculty position in anesthesiology. Successful candidates will be able to pursue either a tenure-track or clinical-track
position at the rank of Assistant/Associate or Full Professor based on qualifications and individual interests.
Qualifications: Required qualifications are a DVM or its equivalent. Eligibility for, or Board Certification by, the American or European College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia is required. The candidate selected for this position
must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent communication skills are required. Eligibility for faculty
veterinary licensure in the State of Alabama is also required.
Responsibilities: Applicants should have a strong interest and experience in clinical anesthesiology and in instruction of veterinary students. A clinical track position is designed for individuals desiring to focus on service/teaching
obligations in a university teaching hospital setting. A tenure tract position is designed for individuals with additional interests in research and other scholarly activity. There is flexibility in the percent effort for the faculty assignments depending
on an individual’s interest and expertise. Faculty participate in teaching interns, residents, and veterinary students through various activities including primary case management, patient rounds, didactic lectures, laboratories, and continuing education programs.
An anesthesia/pain management residency program is anticipated to be approved in 2018.

About The College: The College of Veterinary Medicine is located on 350 acres at the perimeter of the Auburn University campus. The Wilford and Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility, was completed in 2014,
and provides 208,000 square feet dedicated to meeting the College’s mission of practicing the highest standards of veterinary medicine. The facility includes a large anesthesia/surgical prep area with nine induction bays, conference room, break room, stat
lab, and offices. A dedicated Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is under construction. Small animal surgery is supported by 11 surgery suites. A 71,500 square foot state-of-the-art large animal hospital opened in 2003. It has separate inpatient and outpatient
barns, an isolation ward, and covered lameness arena. Large animal surgery is supported by four surgery suites and four recovery rooms.
The Anesthesia service includes four faculty and eight technicians. It is complemented by specialists in small animal medicine and surgery; equine medicine and surgery; food animal medicine and surgery; avian and exotic medicine; theriogenology,
dairy medicine; sports medicine; emergency and critical care; medical, surgical and radiation oncology; ophthalmology; cardiology; dermatology; neurology; radiology; and pathology.
Small animal anesthesia equipment includes integrated Surgivet CDS-9000 workstations with Advisor multi-parameter monitors, Datex-Ohmeda Aestiva 3000 anesthesia workstation with S5 multi-parameter monitor, Hallowell ventilators, Sonosite
ultrasound machine, peripheral nerve stimulators, Invivo Precess MR compatible multi-parameter monitor, Surgivet MR compatible anesthesia machine with ventilators (large and small animal), and I-stat point-of-care analyzer. Large animal anesthesia equipment
includes SurgiVet large animal anesthesia machines, Narkovet 2/ Drager small animal anesthesia machines and SurgiVet multi-parameter monitors. Other equipment onsite includes Co2 surgical laser (Aesculight), Eklin digital radiology, linear accelerator, 1.5T
Phillips MRI, GE 64-slice CT scan (both with large and small animal capabilities), standing equine CT, 3-D printing capabilities, Brainsight® stereotactic system, a Siemens digital RF suite, GE interventional radiology suite, 2 Phillips iE 33 ultrasound machines,
and 2 Phillips HD11-XE ultrasound machines. The Auburn University MRI center provides 3T and 7T MRI service for client and research patients. The small animal and large animal ICU facilities are approved for ACVECC training, and have dialysis capabilities.
