The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences
invites applications for a full-time tenure track or clinical track faculty position in
Food Animal Medicine and Surgery. Duties will include teaching and clinical service in the Food Animal (FA) Clinic of the Veterinary Medical Hospital, training of residents and interns, and didactic lectures and laboratory instruction for veterinary
students. Clinical responsibilities will include primary to tertiary care within the Food Animal Section of the Large Animal Hospital.
Emergency duty will consist of providing backup to the food animal residents and interns on a rotating basis.
Development of innovative teaching programs and/or demonstrated activity in primary or collaborative research or other forms of scholarship germane to food animal medicine, surgery or production will be favorably
looked upon in relation to the type of appointment sought and extent of clinical service. A DVM degree or equivalent is required as is the ability to attain licensure in the state of Oklahoma. Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal
Medicine (ACVIM) is highly desirable, however candidates with board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) or American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) will be considered. Individuals qualified to take their respective
specialty certification examinations would also be considered. Interest and clinical experience in routine food animal theriogenology is desirable.
Appointment will be at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Professional rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The FA section is a well-equipped
service and sees a robust food animal caseload which consists of beef cattle and small ruminants with smaller numbers of dairy cattle and swine.
The FA Clinic consistently ranks among the top veterinary schools for food animal caseload. One half to two-thirds of the caseload consists of primary care cases drawn from a large geographic area with the balance consisting
of referral cases.
