The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine announces an outstanding opportunity for a full-time one-year Clinical Instructor position in Small Animal Surgery. Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree. Preference will be given to candidates that are board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons or will be eligible to take the ACVS certifying examination in 2018. The appointee will join the section of Small Animal Surgery within the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences which is currently comprised of seven faculty, one clinical instructor, eight residents, and seven dedicated technicians. The surgery service is located within the comprehensive Veterinary Medical Center Hospital for Companion Animals, with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment including diagnostic imaging (3-Tesla MRI, 128-slice CT) and advanced stereotactic radiation therapy. The surgical faculty staff the Veterinary Medical Center at both our Columbus and Dublin facilities.  Our goal is to build upon current success, and to augment and advance the clinical, research and teaching components of the small animal surgery program.

The primary focus of this position is clinical duty in the Small Animal Surgery Section in both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery with no expectation for research or administrative contribution. It is expected that this position will require approximately 75-80% of weeks on clinics. Paid study time (approximately 8 weeks) will be afforded for any candidate planning to take the ACVS certifying exam in February 2018. Responsibilities include clinical teaching of professional students, interns, and residents as well as primary receiving and patient care activities related to all aspects of small animal surgery.

 

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. Start dates are negotiable with an anticipated start date by summer/fall 2017.
