Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position in Veterinary Ophthalmology at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical
Sciences beginning July 1, 2016, or when the successful candidate is available.
The Western College of Veterinary Medicine: The WCVM is western Canada’s regional college of veterinary
medicine. Approximately 80 students from the four western provinces and the northern jurisdictions are admitted each year to the DVM program. The College also includes 140 graduate students, interns and residents. It is part of a comprehensive academic
health sciences group on the university campus, with access to facilities including the PET-CT, Canadian Light Source and the Biomedical Beamline and cyclotron facility. For further information, please visit

The Veterinary Medical Centre: The VMC is currently a state-of-the-art AVMA and
AAHA accredited hospital and referral centre serving western Canada and offering specialty services and undergraduate and graduate training in
anesthesia, dentistry, exotics and wildlife, internal medicine, medical imaging, oncology, radiation oncology and surgery. There is a busy and growing ophthalmology caseload in small, large
and exotic/wildlife patients. A wide variety of diagnostic capabilities utilizing electroretinography, ultrasonography, optical coherence tomography, indocyanine green and fluorescein angiography as well as advanced surgical technologies including endoscopic
laser and posterior segment surgical capabilities are offered by current faculty.

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate include: high quality instruction in ophthalmology to undergraduate and postgraduate veterinarians, participation and organizational
responsibility for the ophthalmology clinical teaching and VMC service programs, and scholarship and research in ophthalmology. Extensive opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research exist within the College and across campus. Contributions
to the continuing education of practicing veterinarians will be encouraged and expected.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a DVM degree or its equivalent and must be eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan.
The successful candidate must be a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) or have credentials acceptable to the ACVO at the time the appointment becomes effective. Diplomate
status in the ACVO is required for tenure. Possession of an advanced degree is desirable.
Salary & Benefits:
The current salary range for an Assistant Professor is $93,293.00 to $112,109.00 and for an Associate Professor it is $112,109.00 to $130,925.00. This position comes with a comprehensive benefits package
