Chairperson, Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences

 

The Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences invites applications for the position of Chairperson.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a skilled, progressive faculty known for excellence in the education of professional students and house officers, the provision of exemplary clinical service, and strength and mentorship in translational and clinical research.

 

The Department and the MSU Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) work very closely and cooperatively to support the missions of teaching, clinical service, and research. The MSU VMC is a state-of-the-art referral center featuring the services of more board certified and diverse specialists than any other referral hospital in the state and boasts a robust and expanding clinical caseload of 24,000 per year. Small animal faculty expertise includes emergency and critical care medicine, primary care medicine, internal medicine, surgery, diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, interventional radiology, ophthalmology, cardiology, neurology, dermatology, oncology, molecular genetics and zoo & wildlife medicine.

 

The missions of the College and Department are further supported through generous endowed research funding and research infrastructure, endowed chairs in Veterinary Surgery and Canine Health, and The Center for Feline Health and Well-Being.  As part of a large, land-grant university, we value collaboration and outreach in partnership with other colleges, including the Colleges of Human Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine, Nursing, Agriculture & Natural Resources, as well as public and private agencies.

A veterinary medical degree, board-certification, and a combination of accomplishments sufficient for appointment at an associate or full professor level through the Health Programs (clinical track) or Tenure Systems at MSU are required.
