Theriogenology Internship 2015

 

 

 

The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at The University of Tennessee offers a one year clinical internship in Theriogenology beginning in July, 2015.  The intent of the program is to provide advanced clinical training and experience in theriogenology in preparation for practice, admission into a clinical residency program or advanced graduate studies.  The goal of the program is to introduce the candidate to a future career in academic or specialty private practice.  This program is devoted primarily to participation in the theriogenology clinical service and teaching programs of the Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) and the Veterinary Research and Education Center (VREC). These experiences are conducted both on campus and in field settings.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The service rotation consists of assisting senior clinicians in reproductive cases mainly in equine, food animal species and some exposure in small animal species.  Technical skills and clinical judgment will be obtained through supervised case management, participation in teaching laboratories and research projects and attendance at rounds and seminars.  Candidates must have graduated from an AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine and be able to practice in the USA (US, Canada and Mexico citizens or green card holders). Licensure in the state of Tennessee is not required.

 

EMERGENCY DUTY

Emergency service responsibilities for after hours, weekends and holidays will be shared with other house officers.

Interns are given 10 days vacation per year and approximately 5 days over the Christmas holidays.
