Position: Full time, 100% (12 months), Tenure Track or Clinical Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Farm Animal Medicine and Surgery

 Location:             Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, 2407 River Drive Knoxville, TN 37996-4545

Qualifications:   Candidates must have a DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree; and have completed a clinical residency program and board certification or be qualified to take the certifying examination in Large Animal Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or Large Animal Surgery (ACVS, ECVS). Preference will be given to applicants with a graduate degree (MS or PhD) and experience with livestock species including nontraditional livestock. Desired start date is Summer/Fall 2015.

Duties:                  The effort allocation for this position is varied based on the role as tenure or clinic track. In general, expectations include clinical service and teaching  

(minimum 50%), didactic and laboratory teaching (minimum 20%), research or scholarly activity (minimum 10%), non-directed service (5%). The faculty member will share in the clinical and didactic teaching of students in the veterinary curriculum, the training of interns and residents in specialty emphasis areas, and mentoring of graduate students when appropriate. Responsibilities include individual animal care for food and fiber animal species (beef and dairy cattle, sheep and goats, llamas and alpacas, and swine). The faculty member will participate in clinical emergency duty with other faculty.
