Assistant CLINICAL Professor of Avian-Exotic Medicine

The Department of Clinical Sciences at the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a non-tenure track Assistant Clinical Professor of Avian-Exotic Medicine.
Position Information: The successful applicant will work with a team of clinicians within the Exotic Animal Medicine Service (EAMS). The selected candidate will: 1) Provide high quality effective and efficient patient care for a diverse variety of exotic animal species. Clinical responsibilities will entail all of the duties associated with case management (client and referral veterinarian communication, development of a diagnostic and treatment plan, interpretation of diagnostic findings, implementation of a treatment plan, surgery, post-operative care, development of a home care plan, fiscally responsible management). 2) Participate in the emergency roster. 3) Provide clinical expertise with strong skills in exotic companion mammals, pet pigs, birds, reptiles, and other species such as zoo animals, wildlife, fish, and other vertebrate and invertebrate species. 4) Participate in high quality clinical teaching for veterinary students and house officers. 5) Conduct clinical research focused on clinical issues that present in the exotic animal population.
The individual will be expected to be a positive and active member of EAMS. Must have strong organizational skills and adaptability to working with multiple species. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-oriented atmosphere.
Qualifications: DVM or equivalent degree and completion of all requirements needed to take the American College of Zoological Medicine (ACZM) board examination are required. Candidates must meet requirements for a faculty certificate or regular veterinary licensure in North Carolina prior to starting.
